History, Wildlife + Nature with Kodiak Discovery Tours
Authentic Experiences + Wild Beauty + Local History
That’s Kodiak Discovery Tours.
Trips with this locally-owned-and-operated boat tour company are so much more than scenery. Captain Tyler and his crew live in Kodiak and have been navigating its waters for decades. Their tours are focused on perfectly blending Alaska’s natural beauty, the incredible wildlife in Alaska, and the rich history of the area.
With Kodiak Discovery Tours, you’ll dive into the local fishing history, native Alaskan history, Russian history, and military and WWII history – and how it connects to the land and people of Alaska. And you’ll never listen to a pre-recorded tour. Each tour is one-of-a-kind, with the crew carefully sharing stories that will draw you in.
With safety at the forefront, Kodiak Discovery Tours will take you on the trip of a lifetime.
Wildlife to Spot
Kodiak’s crystal-clear waters are the perfect home for a lot of wonderful marine life. As you cruise, keep your eyes open for playful sea otters, graceful puffins, seals and sea lions, and soaring bald eagles overhead. You may even be lucky enough to spot a whale breaching in the distance!
Your Vessel
Kodiak Discovery Tours takes out the gorgeous Ocean Discovery, a 75-foot catamaran that can hold up to 149 passengers. The Ocean Discovery is U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified, with a smooth ride, large outdoor viewing decks, and a lovely indoor (heated) salon.
Your Tour
Each tour runs about 2 to 2 ½ hours, offering plenty of time to enjoy the breeze, soak in the scenery, and become immersed in the history of Kodiak. As you sit back and listen to local stories, take advantage of comfortable spaces inside and out. Guides have more than 50 years of combined experience, so you’re in safe and capable hands.
Along the tour, explore local and historic sites such as the Star of Kodiak Cannery, Puffin Island, and the Spruce Cape Navy SEAL Training Center. Your experienced and passionate guides will intertwine history, personal knowledge, and local stories, ensuring you have a trip that’s anything but ordinary.
