
Kodiak Rodeo & State Fair
If you’re visiting Kodiak over Labor Day weekend, you’re in for a treat – the Kodiak Rodeo & State Fair is the island’s biggest end-of-summer celebration, and it’s happening August 29-31, 2025 at the Kodiak Fairgrounds.
For three days, you’ll experience the best of small-town Alaska: heart-pounding rodeo action, toe-tapping live music, and a fairgrounds full of local food, crafts, and family fun. Cheer for bull riders, browse handmade quilts and jams, and savor everything from Filipino BBq to fresh-brewed coffee.

This beloved event has deep roots. The first rodeo was held in 1968 with the help of local ranchers and volunteers—and it’s been a Kodiak tradition ever since. Today, it’s a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, blending rugged rodeo spirit with the warm welcome Kodiak is known for.

- Saturday & Sunday: Gates open at 12 PM, rodeo starts at 3 PM.
